In this volatile market, we often forget that one of the key values that Realtors® bring to the table is their ability to successfully negotiate a deal. Granted, some Realtors® have forgotten what negotiations are all about and may get offended by low offers or attempt to bully through an unfair offer of their own.
However, negotiation is an art form and a good Realtor® will breeze through the negotiation process and generate the best possible outcome for their clients. He or she will find a compromise, utilizing their skills and market savvy to create a win-win situation so that a deal can proceed forward.
As a third party in the transaction, a Realtor® needs to take their emotion out of the picture and calmly and reasonably deal with the situation. In this market there are often low ball offers from buyers who think they will get a “steal” or sellers who maintain their overpriced level and will not move a cent. A good Realtor® will look beyond the initial reaction and will attempt to find price levels where both parties benefit, while protecting the interests of the party he or she may represent.
So in order to benefit the most in Real Estate transaction, talk to your Realtor® about their strategy in the negotiation, and sometimes you must give them a bit of slack and listen to their objective opinions. Together as a team you will reap the rewards of not only a successful negotiation but a much smoother process of buying or selling real estate in this stressful, yet exciting market.
